Learn to freedive in
the clearest water on earth.
A small, personal freediving center in Dahab, where warm, calm water does half the teaching for you. Beginner to advanced, at your pace.
Why freediving
Most people think freediving is about holding your breath. It's not.
It's about teaching your nervous system that stillness is safe.
The divers who progress fastest aren't the most athletic. They're the ones who learn to stop fighting and start listening to their body.
That's exactly what we teach at The Gate Freediving, in water so warm and clear your body relaxes before you take your first breath hold.

Our courses
Where do you want to start?
Every diver begins somewhere. Choose the entry point that fits you, from a first try in the pool to full AIDA and SSI certification.
Introduction to Freediving
Try it before you commit. A calm session in our own 25m pool, with an optional first open water dive. No experience needed.
Beginner Freediving Course
Your first full certification. Breath control, safety and equalisation from the ground up, at a pace that suits you.
Advanced Freediving Course
Go deeper. Refine your technique, extend your breath hold and add depth with a coach who knows the water.
Not sure which certification fits you? Compare AIDA and SSI before you book.
The location
Why Dahab makes it easier.
Cold, dark water makes learning harder. Your nervous system works against you before you even start.
Dahab is different. Warm water around 26°C, over 30 metres of visibility, no current and no waves. Just stillness.
When the environment is this calm, your body follows. And because we're based inside The Gate Hotel with our own pool, you can sleep, eat and dive from one place. No commute, no logistics, just water.

In their words
You trust someone with your breath.
That trust is everything to us. Here is what divers say after training at The Gate Freediving.
I came in nervous about breath holding. By day two I was relaxed at 15 metres. The instructors never pushed, they just made it feel safe.
We opened in 2025 and are gathering our first reviews now. Dived with us? A few honest words on Google mean the world to a young center.

Stay and train
The Training Week.
Seven days, built around the water. Five diving days at the Lighthouse plus two dry days for breathing, equalisation, theory and stretching. Sleep at The Gate Hotel, wake up, head to the water, repeat.
Two intensities and three ways to stay, so it fits your level and your budget. This is how divers make a real jump in a single week.

About us
Emilio & Liam.
Two friends, one place.
We're two Dutch friends who came to Dahab to dive and never really left. We built The Gate Freediving together with Bassem, who owns the hotel and knows everyone in town.
We teach because we believe anyone can learn to be calm underwater. Our team speaks Dutch, English, Spanish and Arabic, so whoever you are, you'll feel at home.
Ready?
Start with one breath.
No experience needed. Our introduction is a relaxed session in the pool, the easiest way to find out if freediving is for you.
