Introduction to Freediving in Dahab
Try freediving before you commit. A calm first session in our own 25m pool, with an optional open water dive. No experience needed.
The Introduction is the easiest way to find out if freediving is for you. No certification, no pressure, just a relaxed first taste of what it feels like to move underwater on a single breath.
You start in our own 25m pool at The Gate Freediving, the calmest possible place to learn. If you want, you can add an open water session at the Lighthouse reef and take your first real dives in the Red Sea.
Everything is included and everything is guided. Two students per instructor at most, so you always have eyes on you and time to ask questions.
Before you start
- No experience required, this is your very first session
- Comfortable in water and able to swim
- Minimum age 16 (younger on request, with a parent or guardian)
What you will learn
- Relaxation and breathing before a breath-hold
- Your first static breath-hold, face-down and safe
- Duck dive and basic finning technique
- Equalisation basics for your ears
- How the buddy system keeps you safe
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any experience for the Introduction to Freediving?
None at all. This session is designed for complete beginners. You only need to be comfortable in the water and able to swim.
What is the difference between the pool and open water option?
The pool session (from €55) is a calm first taste in our own 25m pool. The open water option (€120) adds a guided session at the Lighthouse reef, where you take your first dives in the Red Sea.
Does the Introduction count towards a certification?
No, the Introduction is a taster with no certification. If you want to continue, the Beginner Course gives you a full AIDA 2 or SSI Level 1 certification.
What is included in the price?
All equipment, guidance from an instructor, and use of our pool. The open water option also includes your session at the Lighthouse. No hidden costs.
